Richard J. Walter, a professor emeritus and former chair of the Department of History in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis. He was 85.

Hindle wins British Agricultural History Society book award

Steve Hindle was awarded the Joan Thirsk Memorial Prize for his book “The Social Topography of a Rural Community: Scenes of Labouring Life in Seventeenth-Century England.” Sponsored by the British Agricultural History Society, the Thirsk Prize is given annually for the best book in British or Irish rural or agrarian history.
