I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of history, focusing on the social and economic history of northern Italy in the late Middle Ages.
I study the formation and social structures of neighborhoods in medieval Genoa. I examine the social and economic makeup of these neighborhoods using administrative and diplomatic sources, GIS, and network analysis. My dissertation situates these neighborhoods as focal points of regional migration, demographic change, and social mobility over the long thirteenth century (c. 1150-1350).
