Sophie Davis is a PhD student in the Department of History at Washington University in St. Louis, where she studies late medieval and early modern Europe. She is interested in the intersections of religion and power in daily life. She has previously written on the role of the oath in Le Roman de Silence.

She graduated with her BA from Florida State University, where she majored in English Literature with minors in French, History, and Medieval Studies. Before accepting a graduate position as an Olin-Chancellor’s Fellow at Wash U, she taught high school English in Florida.
